Janitrol used to be poorly designed. But when Goodman bought into the company, they're research and development improved drastically. most manufacturers utilize several different brand of components...from compressors to contactors, The design of the unit is the manufacturers difference....from actual footprint size to whih way they push air across the condensor coil...with that said Janitrol utilizes a simple design with QUALITY components...resulting in fewer problems over the lifetime of the equipment....If you want several differnt potential problems or a long wait for OEM parts pick Carrier, Trane or Lennox...if you just want your house cool and trouble free A/C operation your best bet is janitrol or Rheem...Rheem is slightly pricier but doesn't offer a five year all parts warranty...I've been servicing A/C equipment for twenty plus years....
