So, being in the industry, you say that thinset is a very important part of the cementious board.

So, you agree to apply it between the plywood and the cement board. But, do you feel that its important to float a small amount on the top of the board where your applying your flooring or tile?

Can you effeciently apply ceramic tile to the finished side of the cement board with out a floating layer of thinset? Will mastic, waterproof or not adhere properly to non floated cement board?
