is paint the seals on the OUTSIDE only, with latex paint. At least that won't melt or destroy the gasket material. It would be a good idea to wipe all the seals down with rubbing alcohol to remove grease and other junk. Allow them to dry for a few hours and then brush paint them with black latex paint. It might crack and fall off or it might work just fine, it depends on how clean you can get the gaskets first. It's about the only thing I can think of that might work without causing even more problems. Good luck on the project.
