Your unit should be OK. I would have personally installed it "above" the condenser/evaporator coil but it shouldn't be a problem. It will not produce water droplets as the air absorbs the moisture and the air goes right through filter. It would be nice if they could immediately make your house a rain forest but unfortunately it could take a week or more to see just a little increase in humidity depending upon if you run the fan 24/7 or if it just runs when the furnace kicks on.
