Reletive humidity is what wood is sensitive to. The
wider the swings between summer and winter, the more
the wood will swell and contract. I don't know where
you're located, but I was stationed in the high desert,
not to far from Palm Springs, and it was bloody dry
in the winter (grounding yourself to prevent static
shocks became a way of life). I concur with the comment
about dogs, but if you do go for it, make sure you
order the wood early and give it time to reach it's
equilibrium moisture content for the area before
installing it.
