Good morning M. Steve,

I was told a long time ago about doing this by an old timer who told me that if you did not fill the tub when instaaling it, there would be movement and creaking later after the sealent cured.

Now I don't know how you would hear any creaking while you were filling the tub over the sound of the water? But, it was something I was taught and I have done.

As far as wasting the water,

Being a conservative, I believe in conservation and reusing the water.

Although, my liberal side tells me to be pro choice and let the customer decide.

With all the local watering bans, I would think it would come in handy to water the plants, flush the toilet, etc.

Bathrooms usualy have windows. All you would need to save the water is a hose, a small pump, and a container, (plastic garbage can or two).

Best wishes,
