Hi, Rob. It depends on how you want it to look and how much the spot bothers you. Replacing a section of a hardwood floor can be very tough. You have to be able to get wood flooring that is the same character and size--exactly--as the old floor. You can get this out of a closet or something if you are lucky. But chances are that you will have to find or have some made and this can be difficult and expensive. This really is a job that I would leave for a pro, which may not be too bad since you apparently don't have that much of it. But that all goes back to the "it depends" question. Personally, if it was just a little darker, I would probably leave it and chalk it up to the character that the wood has gotten over the years. If it was black and singed, I would have it done. But you know what you want and expect and you know how it looks now.
