Is it 3/4" hardwood...

If so the tile will sit a liitle higher than the wood floor (1/2" backer, 1/8" cement, and 1/4" tile), in this case the wood can be shimmed slightly to meet the level of the tile, or if the tile is considerably higher, then there are mouldings that finish the edge of the tile with a flat surface (Schlueter, is the name of one of the leading manufacturers of these). In any case it is a nice thought to isolate the edge of tile/grout from the expansion/contraction of a wood floor.
