Invention of the Dumb Waiter

While visiting Germany recently (and touring a
castle that was over 350 years old), we were told
the King (Ludwig) who lived there INVENTED THE DUMB
WAITER.... Three weeks after getting home; there
was a "trivia contest" on a local radio station and
their ANSWER to "who invented the dumb waiter?" was
that Thomas Jefferson did so...

Who's correct? Who knows? Please tell us!
