I use styrofoam and pop cans to fill between the studs. Over this staple some trash bags as a vapor barrier. Once this is done, drywall or use plywood to cover. The cans warm up nicely with the sun and keep their ambient temperature longer than conventional insulation. The styrofoam will give protection in case of flood as your garage will become a floatation device.
