Installing Ceramic tile over exsisting ceramic tile

In reply to how to install ceramic tile over lenoleum flooring in kitchen by tom on April 13th, 1998 12:26 PM [Go to top of thread]

We are having new carpet laid in our family room and would like to replace the ceramic tile in front of our fireplace. It was indicated to me that I should be able to lay the ceramic tile on my own. It looks as though the exsisting tile was laid on a bed of mortar right on the cement. Can I install the new tile right over the exsisting tile. Can you instruct me on how to do that.
Thank You
Tricia Stehle
