Hi Georgina:
Mark offers very good advice. I can only add a couple of small items

You don't mention if the rooms you want to add the ceiling fans to are directly under an attic. If so, you're in luck. Find the spot you want to put the fan in and d rill a small hole in the ceiling at the center of the desired location and run a coat hanger up. Then one of you go up into the attic, find the hanger and clear away the insulation. Then the trick is to find another light fixture in the attic serving anot her room, so you can tap into the electric box containing the hot (black), neutral (white) and ground (green) wires with your 14 guage sheathed electrical cable. Map carefully where you want to put your wall switch and what path your wires will take. As Mark said, your best bet is to find a home improvement store (Home Depot is usually pretty good) that has knowledgable people that can help you. Also, I like the book "Home Wiring, Simplified", usually carried by most HI stores. Its very thorough, well illustrated and easy to understand.

Best wishes

Bruce M
