installing a pocket door

I am installing a pocket door purchased from Home Depot. I have the frame in place but am a little concerned with a few things. The "frame at the top of the pocket door kit seems to be wider than the wall will be. Is the "frame" simply a couple of pieces of wood meant to help the kit keep its shape while it is installed. Do I remove these. Regarding the jambs. Where do I get those for this kind of door - as they are obviously "open" oon the sliding side of the jamb. Also - do I buy a special "pocket door" or do I rig a conventional panel door with the hardware.
