Installing a new subfloor

Posted by Ryan on February 8th, 2002 12:06 AM

Hi, i would like to put down a new subfloor in the second story of my 80+ year old home. We are getting new carpeting so now is the time. I plan on riping up the entire old floor for two reasons. I want to run new electrical to the overhead lights on the first floor and eleminate those damn squeks that seem to be everywhere. I have searched but can't find any solid info. I planed on using 3/4 plywood, screws, and applying subfloor adhesive to the joists. What screws are best for this job,how far do i space them? What amount of spacing between sheets, in any? Is there a special type of plywood to use? And if there is anything else i am not thinking of?

Thanks For The Help
