Oops. I submitted the post before I was through. And this is quite important: infrared can be done as I said, but it isn't really gonna do the job. It can give you some idea , but infrared film reacts to infrared radiation, not to ambient temperatures. So what you really want is true thermal photography. A bit fancier. Try your phone book.
But try the infrared, its cheap and pretty neat.
