The first priority is of course to get the water out of there quickly; especially if it's at all finished space. Remove all wet carpeting and pad; take it outside or to your garage if you can. If not, roll up the carpet to get it away from the walls, and remove any soaked padding; throw the pad away.

Use a wet vac to pick up the water, or a floor squeegee to sweep the water to the sump.

Once the water is under control, you'll need to find out where it came from to determine what's to be done.

Having just recently purchased this home, you may have some assistance coming to you if this was a known problem to the seller, but not disclosed to you.
