You could do this, and as you say, the water vapor could escape through the Tyvec. However, the temperatures of the air in the attic change rapidly. If the temperature drops quickly below the dew point of the air in the insulation, you will have condensation of water in the insulation, and the insulation will get wet. I think you are much better off leaving the insulation open to breathe freely. I wouldn't do it. What could be the benefit?
