The previous owner ran a plastic pipe from the original sump pump piping over to the waste drain so he could drain his sump pump into the city sewer instead of out the drain hose in the back of the house. He did this because he thought it would stop the basement from leaking!!! Now, we are selling our home and I am quite sure an inspector will see this and want us to fix it. Can it be done ourselves? Also, the way it was hooked up just to make things clear, their is a plastic red valve handle that you can turn to direct the water either to the outside of the house or to the waste water pipe. Any suggestions?
