In reply to wood-laminate flooring by Dean on May 3rd, 2001 08:58 AM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Dean,

I won't recommend a particular 'brand' but here's how I'd go about it.

In MY opinion, a good laminate is built of solid wood. ALL the layers are a hardwood; not just the top layer. Also, it should be able to be refinished 2-3 times. Also, BEFORE you buy, get a copy of the Installation Instructions and be SURE you can find a Rental Agency that has the tools to do the install. (I'm assuming you're either nailing or stapling; not gluing.) In addition, get a copy of the Warranty BEFORE you buy. THis way, you can see what's covered.

Pergo isn't wood so forget that. My best to ya and hope this helps.
