I want to know how the wagner guy never gets paint on his dockers...

I have never used a spray gun without ending up with paint all over me, and everything I wear. When I painted deck rails (2x2 pickets, 4" apart) we used the sprayer, but one of us would hold a sheet of 1/8" board on one side, then we would squeegie the paint back into the bucket. For latex paint, it worked okay. For stain, well, that is a different story. Stain is much thinner than paint, and will run on your vertical surfaces. For stain to do its job, it has to absorb into the wood. That usually means a more direct application.

Don't spray the stain.

The wagner commercials are a lie. There is NOTHING clean, neat and tidy about it. Especially on a windy day...

Jim doesn't paint houses anymore....

Have fun, save your money, use a brush.
