and I would have asked for an allowance on replacing them when we closed on the house had I figured it out at the time (2 years ago). I assumed at the time that they were just beige formica. That said, they did a darn good job of painting them and I didn't figure it out until I went to replace the caulk and noticed the gold speckles in the old formica along the back edge. I figure it's gotta be epoxy or imron or something like that to last this well, it's stood up to SOS pads and a variety of household cleaners (plus toasters, hot pans and grease), but it's starting to show some wear. Makes me shake my head 'cuz I did commercial paint work for many years but I never would have put paint on counter tops.
I agree with Jim-ATS, you’d be better off in the long run by getting new formica installed.
