Ends...sides....I suppose you can refer to them as you wish.

When a switch is placed vertically in a junction box, typically the ground screw is on the bottom of the switch, the single screw is on one "side" of the switch, and the two traveler terminal screws are on the other "side" of the switch. I described it this way to try to pass along a better visual for the poster.

That is, unless the switches you use actually have the screws on the "ends" (top/bottom) of the switches.
