I have to bit the bullet and fill in the old holes and start over with the available handles on the new market.

With care and patience, you can fill in the holes and sand down and have a finished job that no one will see or notice.

The important thing to remember is to find and use ONLY stainable wood filler. Most wood fillers are not stainable.

If your cabinets are to be painted, forget about this stainable filler. But again whatever you use again make sure that it is shrink free.
