Sounds like your edsel/yugo is past its service life if you are spending a few hundred bucks every year or two for boards, etc. If you don't go top of the line for a mercedes, then at least get a ford, chevy, or dodge.
Get a number of bids. Most of our plumbers and electricians who also do HVAC are tied into certain brands advertised on the side of their vans. You may like the people but not their brand and vice versa. Main thing is a quality install, the proper sizing of equipment, and the proper sizing and placement of ductwork and returns.
90 plus efficiency furnaces aren't that much more costly like the used to be. Stay away from the low end stuff. Even the big companies have bought the smaller ones so they carry different lines/names of equipment cause people are still budget conscious. Even Ford goes from a lincoln continental to an escort. Good luck.
Also what other electrical problems do you have? Things like loose neutrals can cause havic on your appliances and cause bulbs to burn out faster, etc.
