Tiger Maple, Curly Maple, Flamed Maple are the same. It is from a special Maple amongst Maples. The best wood from tiger maple log is Sap wood (the outer part), not the Heart wood (the center part).

The figure is like wave on the surface of the water, for the grain of the tiger maple runs along the tree trunk as the graph of Sin along the X-axis.

The best use of tiger maple is making Violin back, ribs, neck and scroll, or Guitar back, face and neck. It is good for making furnitures, including cabinets, tables, chair and closets, or even base-ball bats.

I have not made any out of tiger maple yet, but I want to make violins for my hobby.
