an easy or successful solution to your problem. It depends on what the adhesive base is (latex or solvent), if it is a latex based adhesive you may have some success in renting or obtaining a floor maintainer (like janitors use) and scrubbing the floor with a white nylon pad. Also, and this is a gamble, try a wax stripper, my thought is that the old carpet adhesive is sitting on several layers of wax and if the wax comes off, the adhesive should come with it. If you are successful, seal and wax the floor. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
