Hi, I did this years ago and it worked. We were renting, just married and broke. Got a really nice fridge at auction, but it was avacado (yuck). So I cleaned it well ( as Steve said), too it apart, taped it well, protected the inside from spray, got some almond appliance spray paint and went to work. (I think I primed it first, due to the base coat being darker than top coat--again, it's been years). I was really pleased with the results. Trick is meticulous surface prep/taping and multiple LIGHT coats to avoid paint runs. Takes more time but gets better results than blasting it on there too thick. Best to have a place to paint where overspray won't hurt any other surfaces. You'll need good ventilation, too. It can be done, and is a much less expensive alternative than buying new :)
