brick and stone foundation. As Steve said ... pointing the brick and stone is a good first step.

Since I built out the attic, I also built CMU piers to distribute the load from the 2nd floor.

The CMU piers also helped "stiffin" things up on the first floor as well.

I got the plans for the CMU piers from the structural engineer that I use on a regular basis. If your interested I can scan a set and e-mail them to you.

Good Luck on the home. There truly is nothing like an old house.
