Greetings Tony,

I agree with Steve, we need more information.

How old and where is this house? (If this house is new, you should be talking to the Building Inspector.)

What are the basement walls made of?

When I think of basement walls, I think of poured concrete walls on top of a concrete footing with a keyway. But, every now and then I think of cement block walls on a footing with rebar. I never think of wood below ground level.

Is your basement above ground level on a slab?

Are you looking to add lally collums to help distribute the load of the house?
