A dehumidifier was the solution to basement humidity for me, this damp spring in southern Ohio. Winter is not a problem when the forced air furnace dries out the air, and summer is not a problem when the air condit. does the dehumidifier's work. However during spring and fall when the central system wasn't running basement humidity levels got uncomfortably high. A dehumidifier solved that problem and takes an amazing amount of moisture out of the air. I know how much because I'm presently dumping the catch bucket twice a day by hand. I hope to find a way to connect it to a drain soon. I think we have had only one day without rain in the last four weeks.
