You didn't say where you live and what the climate is like year around but if you live in a dry climate, then by all means add a humidifier. Use a humidistat to control the humidity. Tight houses tend to hold the humidity and during the winter when you don't run the a/c(which dehumidifies the air) then you may want to have dehumidifier also. Many basements need dehumidifiers no matter what is going on upstairs or outside.
