How to remove particleboard glued to tile?

Posted by Laura on December 31st, 2000 06:13 PM

I just started ripping up 3/4" particleboard to lay new floors. Initially, the particleboard was nailed into hardwood floors -- easy to remove. Now, I'm into an area where the particleboard is glued (black, tar-like adhesive) to tile, set in mortar.

I want to lay tile in this area. Is there an easier way of getting up particleboard, other than chipping it up one molecule at a time?

- OR - can I just put wonderboard (or similar) on top of the particle board and install from there (will make really high profile).
