Hi Heather,

I have to say that if you're asking the really 'basic' questions, I suggest you have a pro do this. It would be one thing is you've been down this road once or twice before, or have some knowledge in this area. But you don't. THing is, you can take a wack at it but you may not get the desired results. Also, the pros know how to install carpeting when you say 'furniture cant be moved.' THAT's a problem. Anyways, that's just my $.02 ...

BUT, if your heart wants to go for it, go to The Carpet And Rug Institute for information. Instructions and all that are there. I wish I could say more.
