How do you properly fix scratches in wood floors?

Posted by Cheryl:) on January 4th, 2003 01:05 PM

Hello again! We have a newly (about a month) Diamond varathaned wood floor which has scratches from our dogs. For the most part they are just through the varathane. I tried fixing them with 320 grit sandpaper(says it is for sanding between finishes). I then re-varathaned the areas after cleaning up the dust ect, but in certain light you can see the areas where I sanded. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong!? What is the proper procedure for sanding out scratches in varathane? THANK YOU! Cheryl:)
