How do I get dried grout out of pits in the top of my new tile?

Posted by Vanessa on April 15th, 2000 10:31 PM

My husband and I just installed ceramic tile in our kitchen and have run into a major problem. We picked out a tile that has pits and grooves on the surface. The tile sort of looks like stone with about the same texture. We bought a sanded grout and used a latex additive to mix it. The grout dried in the tiny pits and grooves and no matter what we tried, we could not get the grout to come out of the holes (pits). We tried a haze cleaner and a scrub brush but nothing seems to get the grout to loosen up on the surface. Does anyone know what else we might be able to use? Any helpful info would be appreciated.

P.S.
We have not sealed the grout yet. Any helpful hints on that would be appreciated also.
