Shelley, getting your dream house does not seem that complicated. Have you contacted architects in your area? If you videotape the show where the type of house you are seeking, or borrow a video camera and do a little taping yourself, you can present to the architect what you want to achieve. You can also start by contacting architectural schools or historic district groups for leads on which architects might be more attuned to the style you want.

Chances are good that you might never find a published plan for the style you are seeking and most magazine plans have to have construction plans drawn up anyway. As far as interior configuration, the architect can discuss what you want and need. If you watch "Home Again" or "This Old House", you will see that interior walls can and are moved regularly to fit life styles.

Good luck.
