Just a point of interest for you to consider. professional house inpectors are one level of safety. Certainly some are very good. Another approach is to invite a contractor/home remodeler in to do your house inspection instead. I have found that the professional inspector will sometmes be concerned about being too critical and get a reputation among realtors as someone who loses real estate deals for them.

If the contractor/remodeler who would be doing the work does your house inspection you may get a more conscientious appraisal. The first step of course, is to gather references on any company who you will be entrusting your housing decision to.
