Kevin, you are on the right track ! From an engineering standpoint, heat flow is a function of the difference in temperature between two surfaces. Therefore, as your spa cools off, less heat will flow from it to the surroundings. Therefore you are spending less to keep it at a lower temperature. The same can be said for your home, your hot water heater, etc.. A word of caution though, make sure that any timing devices that you use are rated for the application. You may need assistance from an electrical contractor, or a local electrical supply house. ..Happy soaking !
