My fireplace is in the dividing wall of my living room, dining room with the opening to the livingroom. By chance, I brushed against the diningroom side of the wall and was surprised to find how hot the wall was just behind the firebox! This house was built in the 1930', has been inspected yearly by certified chimney sweep. Does my firebox have to be rebuilt?
