In reply to homosote not as good a z frame channel by jb on June 9th, 2000 11:00 AM [Go to top of thread]

I'm in the process of building a media room and have been currently researching how to reduce sound in rooms. I've recently read a article in Home Theatre on sound reduction. They recommend the best way is to build two walls if working from new construction which gives a stc rating with insulation of about a 68. The next was the z-channels at around 51 rating. Since I'm currently building and have the opportunity to construct without any demo here is the question? Do the two of you Henry and JB feels I should go with the z-channel on the studs and then attach homosote to the channels and then cover with you think this is overkill or unnecessary?
