home wiring

I Dont want to go into reasons why I have to rewire my home I justed moved into, but I do have some basic questions. I plan on using 14 ga wire for bedroom lights and some light/exhaustfan combos in bathrooms. Adding up all the watts it comes to 12 amps (everything at once). That is figuring 100 watts per bulb (I use the energy effcient bulbs so this is overkill) and 300 watt each for the bathroom fan/light combo. The thing that concerns me is underestimating the bathroom combo fans and also the very long run of the 14 ga wire(from basement to attic and across to the rooms with many twists and turns and junction boxes along the way would be 140 ft). Is there much loss on this lenth? I realize doing it all in 12 ga would better, but it would be murder to bring up a line through the walls from the basement. Best regards, Phil
