Hollow block drain

Posted by James Fay on September 28th, 1998 01:48 PM

After watering one section of my lawn for a few hours, I noticed a small hole in the ground.
The water runoff was entering the ground through this hole. I dug down about a foot and found
several hollow orange clay blocks lined up end to end. The water was entering the seam between
two blocks. I can run the hose full pressure into the blocks and the water never puddles up.
Could these blocks be some kind of drain? Where could all that water be going? My house was
constructed 50 years ago.
