Tim, I don't know since I have never tried it, but I don't think so. One of the questions is that there are several brands and quality levels. What makes it worse is that every manufacturer makes the cup shaped saw and the mandrel different so that if you buy one mandrel, you have to buy their saws. If you have a good quality set, all it will do is cost you a new saw if drilling the metal dulls it. Two things that I would do to insure success are mark the hole locatioon well so the drill doesn't wander and when you drill half way thru, stop and insert a regular drill and go all the way thru with the center hole, then go to the other side of the door and finish from the fresh side. Let us know how this turns out.
