Had a similar problem a few years back.

Make a short story long?

Go to your local high school shop class. A student ended up turning mine. I supplied an original as well as poplar blanks, in return I made a donation of a couple of small hand tools that I never used.

Nothing was asked, I just dropped them off.

The student got some sort of credit for the project, and I got 16 well-turned spindles for the cost of the two days.

What a country!
