You're saying that you didn't have to perforate the painted wallpaper BEFORE you used the steamer??? I went and re-read about 3 original posts you made on your wallpaper 'quandry', and the closest you said to the wallpaper being 'painted' was that it was 'textured'. I took that to mean that it was more of a woven wallpaper vs. plain, old, flat wallpaper.
Just for this poster's benefit, was your wallpaper actually painted? If so, it's a first for me to hear that the steamer was able to get underneath BOTH paint and paper. (With the problems you've been experiencing, we don't want someone else getting off to a 'bad start' if we can prevent it.)
