The speed by which the page reloads really has little to do with Bobís site, and more to do with your PC.
Basically, here are the problem areas:
Size of your PC (speed, memory) Speed of your modem (transfer rate) Speed of your telephone line Whether you have your cache turned on, on your PC, and your caching size Transfer rate of your ISP Size, speed, etc, of Bobís server Size of the bulletin board. Number of other users also accessing Bobís site
When you access the bulletin board, you request the server to send an image of the frame, plus a current image of all the postings associated with that page. As the number of postings grows, the time it takes to download all that data increases. This is not an HTML coding issue; this is purely a downloading issue. Besides, this bulletin board is probably shareware, and the folks running Bobís site probably donít do much coding associated with it. Itís probably a question of sheer volume.
Now since this page is growing by leaps and bounds, one would think this would facilitate the need for an archival system. However, since this is the old BBS, and since the new BBS does archival today, I would suspect that no modification to this BBS will take place.
Ultimately, this BBS will probably go away, replaced by the new one. It was supposed to happen last October, but many folks did not like the new BBS. To that end, they have been analyzing the two, looking to incorporate the best of the old into the new.
