On the Stanley I just installed there was a button that you pushed on the lower left hand side of the ceiling unit (where all the other knobs and buttons are), then the small red light would be flashing rapidly, then you just push the button on your remote that you want to run that door and you are done. If you do it a second time, but press a different remote button, then it will control the light and the first will operate the door.

Now I get preachy, but safety first...

It is not good that you do not have the manual. Do you know how to test the up and down force so that the door doesn't kill a child if it comes down on her, or hang you to death when its going up and it hooks your coat? Do you know how to re-calibrate the up and down settings if you have any trouble? If you don't know how to operate this, then someone could get hurt. The manuals are very simple to follow and you don't need to be a professional to make sure that everything is safe. These doors can be deadly.
