Help with CATV wiring

Posted by Joe Simi on February 12th, 1999 11:24 PM

This may be a dumb question(s), but I need help! How many times can you split coax before you lose picture quality. If I have one cable coming in the house and I want cable in 6 places what do I need to do? Do I need amplifiers? Would splitting it at one spot and doing 'home runs' to all endpoints work without amplification? Would I be better of splitting it more times, say once for lower level/upper level and then again for the endpoints? Does the fact that one of the endpoints is going to be a cable box that (I believe) needs to communicate with the outside world?

Basically, I know nothing about CATV. Any help would be appreciated.
