Two nights ago my brother's house took alot of water in through the roof. He is adding a second story and the entire roof is removed. The tarping system the contractor devised gave way during a heavy downpour and several hundred gallons of water came in and flowed to the first floor through the ceiling(mainly through the light fixtures). The ceiling doesn't "look too bad" now but I want to remove the drywall immediately because of concerns about mold or other long term effects. Should we? Also the hardwood floors had standing water on them and it looks like the finish was damaged uniformly. I'm sure there is other damage but don't know what to do first. My main question: What should we be most concerned about and what recommendations do you have. The insurance man comes today. THANKS!
