help on renovation of a '50s home in the Midwest

Posted by Maureen S. Miller on January 26th, 1998 10:57 AM

I bought my home last year, where an addition was added about 20 years ago to one-half of the back of the house, and a deck. The problem is that the other half of the house contains a small bedroom and a very !! small bathroom !! I would like to renovate and add a new bathroom and additional closet space.

The '50s house is in a first-ring suburb in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in St. Louis Park. All the homes were built with similar floor plans and the lots are small (only 10 feet between each house), but the community is a very solid community with people staying and staying.

I watch your show all the time and wonder how a person can become a project for your show. I believe there is financing available, but I would like help on plans and a dependable contractor.

Any help you can provide would be very appreciated.
